This unique position will support Proterra’s Technology Engineering team; however, this is a not a traditional design release engineering role. There will not be a focus on component design work. We are looking for an independent thinker, with an attention to detail to help manage our top-level CAD data and BOM configurations for our growing battery product lines. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring large assembly CAD completeness and BOM accuracy, which will require gathering information from our design engineers and assembling this data into our top-level assemblies. This would also include DMU analysis to ensure assembly correctness. Secondarily, there is opportunity to assist our design engineers with CAD model creation/modification, and 2D drafting.
For more context, our engineering team is primarily responsible for designing large format, high voltage batteries used in our transit buses, as well as our OEM customers’ vehicles. Our custom battery has a flexible architecture and has been designed to fit many different applications. With this flexibility, we are now facing volume production of multiple concurrent battery variants, with the intention to continue to expand our product portfolio. We need somebody to help manage the data for all these product variants.
